출판사서평

오랜 잠에서 깨어난 기분이다. 그 동안 책을 써야 하겠다는 생각은 스스로를 담금질하기 위해서였고, 계획을 세운지 2년이 지났다. 특히 전문대학에서의 생활이 연구와 강의보다 많은 잡일 그리고 보직은 연구 활동과는 거리가 멀다. 1년 전 보직을 내려놓고 연구실로 돌아왔다. 처음 몇 달은 공허하여 반야심경을 정독하면서 마음의 안정을 찾은 후, 그간 준비했던 초고를 가지고 작업을 시작했다.
강의를 하면서 쉬운 책을 써야겠다는 생각을 많이 했다. 왜냐하면 그동안 관광관련 경제와 경영과목을 강의하면서, 요즘 학생들은 논리적으로 생각하고 이해하지 않으려는 경향이 있음을 느꼈다. 그래서 쉽게 관광경제와 경영을 가르칠 수는 없을까? 고민을 하면서 특히 전문대학의 경우 관광 관련학과에서 한 학기에 강의할 수 있는 개론서 정도가 있었으면 좋겠다는 생각을 늘 해왔다. 그래서 용기를 냈지만 집필과정은 쉽지가 않았다.
본서는 전체 10개의 장으로 구성되어 있고, 각 장의 구성을 살펴보면 관광산업이라는 큰 명제를 놓고 경제학적인 접근과 경영학적인 접근이 동시에 이루어 져 있다. 그래서 1학기 강의용으로는 적절한 분량으로 보아지며, 일반인 중 관광분야에 관심이 있는 사람의 경우 경제적인 기초 지식이 없더라도 거시적, 미시적인 관점에서 관광산업을 들여다 볼 수 있는 시각을 제공하고 있다.
본서에서의 오류나 잘못된 부문은 모두 본인의 책임으로 점차 수정과 개정을 해나갈 생각이다. 특히 본서의 집필과정에서 헌신적인 노력을 아끼지 않은 제자, 남미향이의 도움이 없었더라면 처음부터 불가능했을 지도 모른다. 현재 고려대학교 교육공학박사과정에 재학 중인 미향이에게 감사의 말을 전하며, 연구실을 방문하여 원고 정리중인 필자에게 출판의 기회를 준 도서출판 석학당의 윤용호 사장님과 편집 관계자에게도 감사를 드립니다. 나의 게으름을 주야로 채찍 해준 집 사람의 사랑의 말을 잊을 수없다. 그리고 서울에서 직장생활을 즐기고 있는 큰딸 미지, 로스쿨에서 열심히 공부하는 작은 딸 은지, 우리가족 모두의 사랑에 감사드린다.
