영어를 잘하는 사람은 수, 태, 시제를 잘 씁니다

1. 수(number)
한국어에 없는 개념이라 회화와 영작할 때 가장 많이 놓치는 부분 중 하나입니다. 주어-동사의 수 일치, 셀 수 있는 명사와 셀 수 없는 명사의 구별, 명사 앞에 관사, 인칭대명사의 소유격 등을 반복 연습하며 사소한 실수도 하지 않게 완벽을 기합니다.
2. 태(voice)
수동태 표현을 기피하는 한국어와 달리, 행위의 초점을 어디에 두느냐에 따라 영어는 능동태와 수동태를 자유자재로 활용합니다. 1형식에서 5형식까지 능동태 영어 문장들을 익히고 나서, 이를 변환한 적확한 수동태 문장 유형에도 익숙해지게 합니다. 어떤 상황에서 능동태를 쓰고 수동태를 쓰는지, 태 변환 시 주의해야 할 점들을 세밀히 배웁니다.
3. 시제(tense)
문장 이해에 가장 결정적인 요소는 동사의 시제입니다. 다양한 시제들의 각각의 형식과 그 속에 내포된 의미를 정확히 이해하고 개념을 잡아갑니다. 기본 시제, 완료 시제 등 중요 시제들이 쓰이는 상황과 시제 변화에 따른 의미의 결정적 변화를 이해하고 반복 학습을 통해 내 것으로 만듭니다.

각 표현마다 전치사구, 접속사절을 이용해 문장을 확장하는 법을 제시합니다. 한국어와 어순이 다른 영어 문장 확장의 본질을 제대로 알게 되면, 단문으로 뚝뚝 끊어 말하는 유아 영어에서 진짜 어른 영어로 말하고 쓰게 됩니다.
